The first
appearance Batmobile is another LOTDK exclusive build. Set apart from the rest
by using mostly Dark red rather than the usual Batmobile black.
This is a
fairly standard car build, a lot of cool swoops and slopes, but all completely
feasible without any digital manipulation.
Decals
There’s a single solitary decal in this build, a
1x1 round plate with fuel gauge on the interior:I really thought this would have been an existing decal tile, but unfortunately it's custom, not found in any other existing set.
So can I build it?
No, not
with 100% accuracy, but it is possible to make a very close approximation.
All over
this build you find a new element, the 6x1 curved slope (6801). Only used in 19
sets, and never in dark red.
You can see
it on the front wings and on the back section of the car.
It is
possible to patch together a very close replacement for this piece however,
using a smaller 4x1 slope, a 1x2 tile, and a couple of 1x2 plates.
The
curvature is slightly wrong, but it will do until LEGO produce 6801 in dark
red.
Wheels are
another concern, this build uses 72206pb01 wheels and tyres (an element that Tt
designers seem to favor because it appears in a lot of the batmobiles).
In the
game, these are white to recreate those classic 30s white walls, but
unfortunately, LEGO do not currently make them in white, nor do they make them
in light bluish gray (which would be the next closest alternative)
The closest
replacement would be flat silver (I painted mine white)
These door
sills use a modified plate with studs in the center (88646),
you can see
them as the car builds when you summon it in.
These don’t
exist in dark red, but can be closely replicated by using 2 of part 33909, and
a 1x4 tile (which are available in dark red)
There are a
couple of instances where this newish element is used
These can be replaced with brackets or standard bricks with studs on the side.
On the back
wheel arch, there is a 1x1-1x2 bracket in dark red.
This part
is unavailable, but could be replaced with a 1x1 – 1x1 bracket, although it
would leave a small gap underneath.
The little
windscreen is made up of 2 1x2 slopes,
You can however replace them with 4 1x1 slopes, which are available in trans
brown.
LEGO purists stop reading
now
Third party brick manufacturers do make the door sill, brackets, and windscreen elements in the correct colors, however none that I can find produce a replica of the tyres and 1x6 curved slope.
