LEGO just released the Batman and Robin Batmobile set
(76333).
At first glance this is an easy win! It looks just like the
in-game version right?
WRONG!
Ignore the
fact that the game version has got those SICK glow effects, there’s a couple of
(somewhat subtle) differences.
The biggest
deviation is in the cockpit.
The real
world version only has space for 1 minifigure to sit, but LOTDK has 2
characters at all times, making it necessary for Tt to extend the cockpit so
your buddy has somewhere to sit.
This is
achieved by shortening the hood by 2 studs.
The bonnet
(2 x 45677 wedges back to back) is replaced by a single piece (98281) in game,
allowing for the “mudguard” section of the cockpit to be pushed forwards by the
required 2 studs.
The overall
length of the car remains the same between in game and real world though.
Other than
this, the wings probably have the most differences.
Some
detailing is removed from the outside of the wings:
The tips of
the wings are also changed slightly, replacing the tooth piece and wedge with a
simpler curved slope.
The inside
has been smoothed with an inverted curved slope and wedge plate:
Additionally:
Dark red
jumpers on the back spikey area have been swapped to black:
An inverted
bracket was removed from the just in front of the front tyres.
So can it be built?
All these
mods could easily be achieved to make a 100% accurate game version. You only
need about 50 new parts, and they’re all readily available, but honestly, I
wouldn’t bother, just go with the official set. Without really intense
scrutiny, it looks basically identical (and the official set arguably looks
better).
Hi, just a quick update. I'm trying to copy from the CSV file the parts from the Batman and Robin Batmobile, but the colors aren't really labeled, it's just numbers.
