Batman '89, Legacy of the Dark Knight

LEGO already made a minifig scale ’89 Batmobile back in 2019. It’s retired now and was originally a GWP making it a bit trickier to get hold of, but we can check for accuracy anyway.

A lot of similar elements, and build techniques, but a lot more disparities make this a mostly custom build.

Decals

This set would require a few custom decals:

The Batman logo on the 1x1 wheel plates:

The fuel caps on the wings:

And a control panel in the cockpit:

So can I build it?

The only real problem here is the wheels

The front wheels (part #18976) AND back wheels (part #55981) are unavailable in brown (you’d have to replace these with black).

All other parts are available.

LEGO purists stop reading now

3rd party brick makers (GoBricks for one) do produce the wheels in a wider range of colours, including reddish brown. This would make the build more accurate to the in game model.

If you like the build and want to support me, tips are always welcome!

  1. Great job! But fyi, this model is based on a 1989 Batmobile in an actual set (76252) - The Batcave Shadow Box released in 2023. Though it is modified quite a bit to make it shorter. (The set also includes the sticker for the interior controls.) Thankfully a much cheaper version of the same model was also released in 2023 (76224), though it has some subtle changes mainly the rear wings.
